We're delighted to say we just launched our website and are extremely excited to share this with you. On the website, people can contribute directly to people's personal development plans to help them leave homelessness behind for good. The website and an example of somebody's story is below!

https://www.greaterchange.co.uk/give

I am currently homeless, have no benefits because I have no ID or a bank account. I just hope to have the opportunity to have somewhere safe to stay so that I can rebuild my life and start to look forward to getting my son back. I know that I need to make big changes but not having a home makes it almost impossible. Aspire are going to help me arrange my benefits once I've got my ID and housing, once I've got this stability I can start trying to find work.

It has taken a little longer than expected but we are really excited to announce that we will be launching a direct giving feature on the Greater Change website this week. Here you will be able to give directly to people to help them out of homelessness, helping fund their skills courses and rent deposits. This will help people out of homelessness using the same principles as the app and will help pave the way for a successful launch of the app later this year. We will be updating this page as well as the Twitter and Facebook when we do launch!

One of the key focuses of the Greater Change app is to help individuals save for private rental deposits. In order to facilitate homeless people entering the rental market, Greater Change has decided to trial an up-front payment scheme, where we will pay for the rental deposit for individuals, to secure the property when it is most needed. The individual(s) will then fundraise through the Greater Change app to reimburse the rental costs. In this way, Greater Change would be removing frictions and providing those who are homeless with the flexibility that suits their agreed progression plan.

Hi Everyone,

We are really excited to be meeting with Global Initiative tomorrow to finalise timelines and confirm specifications for prototypes of the app.

As previously mentioned we are planning to also build a new website. This website will allow you to support people who are experiencing homelessness leave homelessness behind for good. It will enable you to support this through contributing to things people need to move on. It will also allow you to support people who are at immediate risk of homelessness by helping them avoid becoming homeless. Finally, we aim to add a feature where you can fund the purchase of specific items that support workers will allocate to whoever needs them most. For example, you could fund the purchase of ID for an unspecified person.

We decided to build this website for a number of reasons but there were two major ones. Firstly, so new methods of support could be provided to people as soon as possible. Secondly, because it was a cost effective and quick way of introducing similar technologies of that described in our crowdfund description. This means the app will be even better when it launches: from our experiences with the website we will better understand what is needed from this new type of solution.

We're planning to have this website ready by the end of February so keep an eye out for updates! Thank you again for your support which made all of this possible, have a great week.

We’re delighted that Greater Change raised £33,000 for an extensive trial in Oxford – thank you to everyone for supporting the campaign and making it such a success! We are working hard on Greater Change and thought we would share an overview of the development timeline. This will enable everyone to follow progress and also provides the opportunity to get involved with any stage - we’re always delighted to hear from supporters

We’re coming towards the end of a consultation period. We’ve been talking to many different institutions about the build process in order to make sure this trial is as effective as possible.

Next week, we will be meeting with Global Initiative the firm that will be designing the app. We are delighted to be working with such a fantastic firm and would like to thank them again for the extremely generous financial support of their initiative fund.  During the meeting with them, we plan to discuss specific timelines as well as specifications for initial prototypes. We are really excited to share these with you when they are ready, if there is a feature you think would be a great addition please let us know in the comments and we will try to make it happen!

Given the freezing temperatures, we wanted to try and provide something that could help as soon as possible. Therefore, we are currently developing a basic website that will allow you to contribute to items that will bring about long term sustainable change in people’s lives. A more detailed update on this website will be coming at the end of next week!

Thanks again for your support everyone and have a wonderful week!

Can't believe we have achieved our third milestone!! We will now be able to build scalability into the app, allowing it to support homeless people from a wider geographical area. This milestone was particularly important as it brings us closer to our end goal of launching the app across the UK. We honestly can't thank you all enough for this - as always, we're bowled over by the support we've encountered throughout the project.

WE ARE NOW DOWN THE CROWDFUND'S LAST DAY. We're at 67% of a total which would give us a fully functional app ready for implementation across multiple UK cities. If you support our project, please act now and donate. All of our success so far has been down to your support. Please help us make the last day count.

For even more updates on the app's progress and what the Greater Change Team are up to, check us out on Facebook (here) and follow us on Twitter (here) , or if you'd like to speak to Alex directly, email him at ahjmccallion@gmail.com (here) .

A lot of love to all of you, let's make the last 9 hours matter!!

Great news that you achieved the targets. Chester might be a possible case to study when you come to look at scalability. There is an active charity, Chester Aid to the Homeless, in the city and the local authority, Cheshire West & Chester Council, has a active programme with the significant numbers of Street people that come to this tourist city.

We are absolutely delighted to have smashed our second target! Completely overwhelmed and humbled by everyone's kindness and support.

Thanks to you we will be able to assess the app post initial trial, make changes, and launch a second, longer 5 month trial. This will iron out any potential issues, and give us a brilliant case study to use for when we hopefully launch the app across the UK.

Speaking of which…we are £1,683 away from our next milestone of £32,400, when we will be able to build scalability into the technology, making it easier for us to support greater numbers of homeless individuals from a wider geographical area.

We now have only one day left of the crowdfund, and we'd really like to make the most of it, but we need your help to do it. Please keep donating and keep spreading the word – you've all done such a brilliant job so far, but we don't want the story to end here. The the more we raise, the more homeless people we can help, and the greater the change.

We're so nearly there!!!!!

We are extremely happy to announce that we have reached our minimum target, which means the app is definitely going to be developed and can be trialed for three months in Oxford! We as a team are completely overwhelmed by the support we have been given for the project, and it's not a cliché when I say that words can't express how thankful we are to all of you. It goes without saying that without you, none of this would have been possible.

We have our eyes firmly on our next target of £27,400, which will enable us to make assess the app post initial trial, make changes, and launch a second, longer 5 month trial. If you support the project, please spread the word as far as possible - tell your friends, your neighbours, your parents, your children whether that's tweeting, sharing on Facebook, calling someone up or shouting over the fence. We have 4 days left to raise funds for a project which will hopefully change the lives of homeless people for years to come. We want to take it as far as possible, and we need your help to do it.

Thank you, you lovely people!

I wanted to update the page to thank everybody for their amazing support. It is overwhelmingly exciting that we are just £2,500 away from making this project a reality and this truly would not be possible without all of you.

We will be launching the app early next year but in the meantime we want to keep everybody who has supported the project updated. We will be posting updates here and setting up a mailing list. For even more news about the project, check out our Facebook and Twitter profiles, if you haven't already (you can view all our Twitter updates even if you do not have a Twitter account.) Thank you so much once again, this wouldn't be possible without you!

If you have any questions or comments please do email me at ahjmccallion@gmail.com , I would love to hear from you!
